HARDSHIPS IN SALVATION WAY

1 SAMUEL 1:  1 -20

1 Now there was a certain man of Ramathaimzophim, of mount Ephraim, and his name was Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephrathite:

2 And he had two wives; the name of the one was Hannah, and the name of the other Peninnah: and Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.

3 And this man went up out of his city yearly to worship and to sacrifice unto the LORD of hosts in Shiloh. And the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, the priests of the LORD, were there.

4 And when the time was that Elkanah offered, he gave to Peninnah his wife, and to all her sons and her daughters, portions:

5 But unto Hannah he gave a worthy portion; for he loved Hannah: but the LORD had shut up her womb.

6 And her adversary also provoked her sore, for to make her fret, because the LORD had shut up her womb.

7 And as he did so year by year, when she went up to the house of the LORD, so she provoked her; therefore she wept, and did not eat.

8 Then said Elkanah her husband to her, Hannah, why weepest thou? and why eatest thou not? and why is thy heart grieved? am not I better to thee than ten sons?

9 So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk. Now Eli the priest sat upon a seat by a post of the temple of the LORD.

10 And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the LORD, and wept sore.

11 And she vowed a vow, and said, O LORD of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the LORD all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.

12 And it came to pass, as she continued praying before the LORD, that Eli marked her mouth.

13 Now Hannah, she spake in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard: therefore Eli thought she had been drunken.

14 And Eli said unto her, How long wilt thou be drunken? put away thy wine from thee.

15 And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before the LORD.

16 Count not thine handmaid for a daughter of Belial: for out of the abundance of my complaint and grief have I spoken hitherto.

17 Then Eli answered and said, Go in peace: and the God of Israel grant thee thy petition that thou hast asked of him.

18 And she said, Let thine handmaid find grace in thy sight. So the woman went her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more sad.

19 And they rose up in the morning early, and worshipped before the LORD, and returned, and came to their house to Ramah: and Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and the LORD remembered her.

20 Wherefore it came to pass, when the time was come about after Hannah had conceived, that she bear a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, Because I have asked him of the LORD.

When the students are in classroom, their ears must be attentive to what the teacher teach them.  The one who follows what teacher talks to him must be clever and praises his teacher parents. The same in the salvation way, we attend the church assembly to hear what God says, that we may know what God needs for us to do that we may praise him.

From the book of 1 Samuel 1:1-20, the scripture said about Elhanan and his two wives. Peninnah and Hannah.  Peninnah had children but Hannah had none.  Peninnah kept on provoking her, in order to irritate her.  What these teach us?

Spiritually, Hannah represents the one who starts the salvation way, and Peninnah represents the trials that you may face in the salvation way.

There are two countries: A country of sin and spiritual death; and a country of grace.

In the country of sin and spiritual death are evil deeds and, nothing found there can praise God, but in the country of grace are the gospel and grace.

If someone hears the gospel and believes, he has forgiveness of sin and comes out from the country of sin and death to enter the country of grace. That one becomes enemy of Satan who starts to cause him falling in the trials.

God agrees that to happen to him. Why God agrees t Christians to meet trials in the salvation way?

Let us see what the bible says!  Reading the bible, we learn that the Israelites had lived 40 years in the desert. If we meditate the word we discover that was for purposes of God for the Israelites to stay in desert:

1 – To humble them;

2- To test what was in their hearts that when they will reach the land of promise will continue to live in the presence of God.

3- That he may teach them that a man can not live by bread only but by the word coming from the God’s mouth.

4- That he may teach them to obey his commands and walk in his path.

How God was remains today, how God was working is alike today. If some one starts the salvation way, God may train him in all these ways; even God tests what is in his heart, and checks if that faith is from his word , in sum from above.

When Jesus Christ was praying at the place called Gethsemane, He fell on his face to the ground and prayed: My father, if it is possible may this cup be taken from me, yet not as I will, but as you will. What this cup mean? Spiritually this cup represents the trials from God. Jesus Christ had already known that the will of God is for him to die on cross, Jesus had already known that he must be crucified and save the world from the death of sin.  So if some one starts the salvation way, he may face the trials from God. My brethren who visited our blog, I don’t know if you have already faced the trials from God or not yet.  If not yet tested by God, just know that there is step which you have not yet reached to.  Just know that God will send you trial to test what is in your heart, to test your faith. Without doubt, God will send it to you. And when you will finish it you may be mature completely, lacking any thing spiritually.  Deuteronomy 8:1-9, Matthew 26:39, James 1:2-4.

Our God is faithful.  While He sends to you a trial, HE must before tell you that a trial is going to occur, because nothing can reach to the city unless God reveals it to his beloved servants.

As you fear that trial, God will show you compassion because great is his unfailing love.  He does not want to bring affliction or grief to the children of men.   Amos 3:7, Lamentation 3:31-33.

Remember Hannah represents those who start the salvation way, when she was enough provoked in order to be irritated by Peninnah.   She went at Shiloh to worship God In bitterness of soul, wept much and prayed the Lord.   That was her repentance that was turned God to her. From there God heard his prayer and blessed her son who was Samuel.  The same way, if the one hears the word of God and believes, keeps God’s commands and walks in his path, God is there to bless him.

So there are processes numbered above to get blessing from God.

The blessing of the Lord brings wealth and adds no trouble to it.
