Then Moab rebelled against Israel after the death of Ahab.
2 And Ahaziah fell down through a lattice in his upper chamber that was in
Samaria, and was sick: and he sent messengers, and said unto them, Go,
enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron whether I shall recover of this
3 But the angel of the LORD said to Elijah the Tishbite, Arise, go up to meet
the messengers of the king of Samaria, and say unto them, Is it not because
there is not a God in Israel, that ye go to enquire of Baalzebub the god of
4 Now therefore thus saith the LORD, Thou shalt not come down from that bed
on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die. And Elijah departed.
5 And when the messengers turned back unto him, he said unto them, Why are ye
now turned back?
6 And they said unto him, There came a man up to meet us, and said unto us,
Go, turn again unto the king that sent you, and say unto him, Thus saith
the LORD, Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that thou sendest
to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron? therefore thou shalt not come
down from that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.
7 And he said unto them, What manner of man was he which came up to meet you,
and told you these words?
8 And they answered him, He was an hairy man, and girt with a girdle of
leather about his loins. And he said, It is Elijah the Tishbite.
9 Then the king sent unto him a captain of fifty with his fifty. And he went
up to him: and, behold, he sat on the top of an hill. And he spake unto
him, Thou man of God, the king hath said, Come down.
10 And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I be a man of God,
then let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And there came down fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.
11 Again also he sent unto him another captain of fifty with his fifty. And he
answered and said unto him, O man of God, thus hath the king said, Come
12 And Elijah answered and said unto them, If I be a man of God, let fire come
down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And the fire of God came
down from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.
13 And he sent again a captain of the third fifty with his fifty. And the
third captain of fifty went up, and came and fell on his knees before
Elijah, and besought him, and said unto him, O man of God, I pray thee, let
my life, and the life of these fifty thy servants, be precious in thy sight.
14 Behold, there came fire down from heaven, and burnt up the two captains of
the former fifties with their fifties: therefore let my life now be
precious in thy sight.
15 And the angel of the LORD said unto Elijah, Go down with him: be not afraid
of him. And he arose, and went down with him unto the king.
16 And he said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Forasmuch as thou hast sent
messengers to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron, is it not because
there is no God in Israel to enquire of his word? therefore thou shalt not
come down off that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.
17 So he died according to the word of the LORD which Elijah had spoken. And
Jehoram reigned in his stead in the second year of Jehoram the son of
Jehoshaphat king of Judah; because he had no son.
18 Now the rest of the acts of Ahaziah which he did, are they not written in
the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
Here, we first discover an evil heart related to the King Ahaziah and the two captains sent, then an other spiritual heart belonging to the third
Closely, the king didn’t deal to the God of Israel, but expected the
healing from a god of Akron called Baal zebub.
Remember that we told according the Bible that even animals have to rely from God, like a lion to get its prey.
Why only few people at the side of the king didn’t deal with the true God of Israel, and the most remaining to idols?
We remark that all the songs of King David contain the seeking from the true God of Israel.
Falling through the lattice from his upper chamber, he hastened to ask
especially from that baal zebub, wether he shall recover from his injury.
This history from Israel is ours as long as the Bible has the word of
God to bring salvation towards every man’s heart.
Accordingly, David’s adultery or the woman’s one is alike mine first,
meaning that when the word of God is not before apply to me, then no
spiritual change can,t be expected to whom we are preaching to. Good things must only come from Jesus Christ not from the ability or knowledge of preacher, for , without passing through or coming from the grace of God, no real change will happen spiritually.
Sometimes, we condemn ourselves due to our thoughts fully of dirtiness.
I’ve to restate that since Adam and Eve were set in Eden, the standard of
what was good belonged only to the Creator but not to them.
The selectivity of what is good or bad was and still be an idea brought by Satan in order to prevent man to approach God.
Unfortunately, even Ahaziah’s heart shifted to the idol, God was waiting for him, that was why an Angel of him compelled his servant Elijah to go and stop the first captain sent to inquire from Baal zebub about the
While reading through the book of Hebrew 11, verse 6, we come to know that :without faith, pleasing God will be impossible. This means who would draw
near to God must first believe that he exits and rewards those who seek for
If the throne of God is a throne of grace, receiving that grace requires
the believing into his word. Consequently, every one who believes in his
own thoughts shall die surely.
Remember this scripture Number 6,4 : …All the days of his separation, he shall eat nothing that is produced by the grapevine… Also, the amazing
history about the rich man and Lazare explain how the fist lived with
abundance on this earth, but inherited the hell the time the poor man went
Don’t sit and cry after committing sin, but go quickly to God to implore
his mercy for being purified from that sin.
In connection on this , I’m remembering the example given to me by
Pastor Dukman Yang of Good News Church, who told us that every contaminated material in radioactivity would be thrown to the sun but not into the sea. So, ours sins must be submitted to God.
Many are short to this spiritual secret, they still commit sin while repenting from it.
Gospel is not relaxing, it is believing what God says in the book of Mark 1,15.
Who is guided by his thoughts is a continuous sinner, then a servant of Satan.
Why,Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus and didn’t approach God for pardon?
Sometimes a context in the Bible is different from that one in our mind. You can find out that the father in Luc 15,21 doesn’t match to the father in a commonly minds of man.
-Mephibosheth thought that David searched for vengeance, the time
the King wanted to fulfill the oath between Jonathan is friend.
That is why Isaiah said in 42,22 ..People rebelled,a prey with none to rescue.
We have to met God in the Bible, by reading it continuously and
believing in it. Having met the True God, you.re set free, healthier, rich and spiritual.
-Azahiah died for his own thoughts ;taking rising more important
than God. “Man of God, come down”.
The time you’re rising up your thoughts high than God’s ones yo die surely. Just remember that Ananias and Sapphira died for trying to cheat the Holly spirit in their shares.
Can I say again that you are choosing to die when you take for naughty the word of God. Yes.
Here we have often one kind if heart which is lacking faith, briefly a typical evil heart.
Let’s learn about the preferable heart before God by catching what drove the third captain of fifty through verse 13 inside 2 Kings. On his knees, he begged that not only his life be saved, but also the life of the fifth servants. They were spared. They lifted up God himself throughout his true servant Elijah . This situation brings me to recognize the Centurion’s faith among Roman soldiers who was convinced that , only one word uttered by Jesus had enough power to heal his son.
If the word of God wants me to live, the I will live without any doubt.
All of us we have to knee down before the word of God, that we could be spared for eternal life.
